Lamp base is 12 3/4 wide x 10 1/8 deep x 1 7/8 inches thick. Light is 37 inches tall. Base is made of Museum Grade Aniegre wood from equatorial West Africa. Black on side of wood base is created using Japanese Shou-sugi-ban burning technique. Structure of light is made with brass tubing and jeweler’s brass sheet. Lamp diffusion is made up of two parts: 3 paper panels of Uda-gami Japanese paper and 1 fabric panel made of antique tan and dark brown Kijoka-bashofu fabric from Ogimi, Okinawa. Kijoka-bashofu is recognized as one of the important intangible cultural properties of Japan.
